Considerations on building type E from a sound insulation perspective

Abstract:
In Germany, construction costs are the subject of much discussion as an obstacle to residential construction. Sound insulation requirements are often cited as a relevant cost factor. The concept of building type E aims to be able to build more cost-effectively with simpler constructions and lower requirements. This concept is analysed from the point of view of sound insulation, including the example of the controversial sound insulation requirements for balconies.
